What’s Behind a Fidelis Art Print?

The most technically advanced and proven printmaking ingredients are behind every Fidelis Art Print.

Fidelis uses only pigment (instead of dyes), making our prints last 3-4 times as long as the traditional offset or photographic prints. When longevity is paramount, pigment is the artists’ preferred choice over LightJet (Chromira, Frontier or Pegasus) and Cibachrome (Ilfochrome) prints.

The world’s foremost testing laboratory for inkjet archival permanence, Wilhelm Imaging Research, claims a display life for pigmented inks on acid free paper of 75 to over 120 years, depending on the paper, under standard conditions, before any colour change is apparent to the human eye. These conditions include average indoor illumination on prints framed behind glass, with normal sealing from atmospheric pollutants. (For exact testing condition refer to the Wilhelm site: www.wilhelm-research.com)

With black and white images, estimates indicate no change should be observable for over 200 to 300 years .

To enhance longevity, Fidelis also offers UV and protective coatings that will add 60 to 100 years to print life . Sprays are invisible and do not alter the appearance of the print surface. UV top-laminates offer further longevity and are available in matte and super -gloss.

Specially sourced canvas and papers are selected for their archival properties, brightness of surface, and fine texture. Our canvas prints are finished with a protective varnish, that allows them to be framed without glass. Each canvas print is gallery stretched (the staples are on the back) leaving a clean outside edge—making the canvas ready to hang.
