Depending on where you live and sell your art you may be experiencing a slow-down in sales or an increase in volume of art sold. If you happen to be having a slow year,  I think these articles discussing the state of global art market will help you see that the art market is on the mend. Here are three sites about the art business, I have bookmarked and try to visit on a regular basis.

Look outside your art community to see what’s happening “beyond” your geographic region—you might be pleasantly surprised.

This post at eyecurious.com really grabbed my attention. The 10 Most Expensive Photographs Ever Sold. You won’t be surprised by most of the names on this list, however, read the full article to learn about the unexpected artist/artwork on this list. Spend some time at eyecurious.com, whether you are a photo-based artist or not, eyecurious.com has a steady supply of well-written and interesting articles about art and the world around us. Blog writer, Marc Feustel is an independent curator and writer based in my most favourite place in the world, Paris—lucky guy!

For more information about how the industry is fairing with the downturn in the global economy. I’d like to share with you two other VERY current posts (So current that at the time I am writing this post it is 10:49 a.m. PST, June 28th and the first linked article was written on tomorrows date in Korea).

Written on June 29th by the JoongAng Daily News: “Foreign Art Market Sets the Pace”. This article offers a good snapshot of the foreign economy and goes so far as to say the foreign market has recovered—I’ll take that bit of good news! This next article link references last weeks auction at Sotheby’s, of the Polaroid Company’s corporate collection which set 14 artist records. For more information about this exciting auction read this post at www.artdaily.org “Records Abound at New York City Polaroid Photo Auction”.

Did I mention that the record breaking Ansel Adams artwork (shown) is a mural size photograph….read my post about why you should consider printing your artwork at mural size Bigger is Better: 4 Good Reasons Why You should Create Over-size Artworks”.

I hope these articles inspire you and keep you motivated to create great art!

Bye for now,

K.
